Music Video Goodwin/Todorov Analysis
The way that the music video cuts between shots in time with the beat of the song shows how it conforms to Goodwin's theory and that there is a relationship between the music and the visuals. An important shot is The one pictured below-- a wideshot of Halsey lying on her bed in her underwear looking at the pictures she has taken. This again conforms to Goodwin's Theory as it shows a woman in a private moment that we normally wouldn't get to see, also known as voyeurism. In addition, there are other moments where this music video conforms to Goodwin's theory. As pictured below, there are several moments where there is a close up or extreme close up of Halsey's face, which according to Goodwin is used to promote brand image.
