Filming Log #1

On the 12th of January, we went to the top of the car park to film some of our video (the lip sync portion) at sunset.

We decided not to use it for the following reasons:

1. The lighting was inconsistent, as we filmed it as the sun set. While this would be effective for a single take video, we ended up having to do multiple takes and therefore it was dark by the time we finished. For this reason, we have decided to film in the afternoon for continuity.
2. The weather was bad -- as it was early January, it was cold and raining when we filmed, and very overcast. This created more issues with lighting as the low-light made out video footage bad quality. The camera was unable to pick up facial expressions and details well, making our footage look unprofessional. It was also extremely unpleasant to film in such bad weather conditions, as the rain ruined the footage also.
3. The artist (me) didn't know the words well. As filming was a quick decision, I didn't have much time to learn the words and therefore we had to do several takes to ensure that I had covered the entire song. It would be extremely difficult to edit.
4. The costume was not ideal. As it was taken straight from school, I had no time to change out of my uniform.
5. Our phones ran out of battery while filming (partially due to the cold temperatures), meaning that we need to be more prepared and have them on full charge so that we can get more footage and are able to play the song while we record the lip sync so that they definitely match.

Although we have decided not to use the footage, it is a valuable learning experience for us, as we improved our skills with the tripod and cameras, therefore when we come to redo this, we will be more successful.
